Biography of Arthur Dobrucki

Arthur Dobrucki is a classically trained pianist who learned much of his craft under the teaching of Spanish pianist Mariblanca de Pujadas.  As a
composer, he is however self-taught, following in the footsteps of the classical composers he has studied while integrating contemporary
influences and improvisation within his works.

Arthur Dobrucki has been active in the Southern California musical community for over 20 years.  Starting to work professionally at the age of 16 as
pianist for On Stage Studios in Simi Valley, he has since played for many local Southern California groups including the Magnificent Moorpark
Melodrama and Vaudeville Company, San Fernando Valley Youth Ballet, and Moorpark College arts programs. Mr. Dobrucki has given classical
solo piano performances and performed classical music with Southern California ensembles, chamber groups and soloists. In the 1980s, Arthur
manned keyboard duties for five years and over 500 performances with the rock band, Dorian which was a local fixture on the Los Angeles club
scene.  In 1986, an original musical,
El Zero written by Frank Roach and Arthur Dobrucki played at the Magnificent Moorpark Melodrama and
Vaudeville Company.   In 1996, he co-founded the Simi Valley based Center Stage Kids musical theater performing group with Eric Cohen, which
gave its final performance in May 2005.  A supporter of the arts, he has also been a past member of the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center board.  He
is currently resident pianist and organist at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Simi Valley, California and is a Colleauge (CAGO) with the
American Guild of Organists.

Many of the works on The Darkness and The Light are written compositions and follow in the tradition of classical solo piano.  A few, including the
tracks Windows, Ever After, and Darkness, are free improvisations reminiscent of Keith Jarrett and were fully realized during the moments they
were recorded.

Piano Traditions
Arthur Dobrucki's formative teacher, Mariblanca de Pujadas,  made her debut with the Madrid Symphony and concertized through Spain, Majorca
and the Canary Islands.  After her successful concerts in Spain, she took on a concert tour of South America which included Venezuela, Puerto
Rico and Columbia.  The same season she arrived at Miami Beach for the first of her United States concerts.  Her North American concerts
included Columbia University in New York City and extended to a Canadian debut in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Concert performances included appearances as soloist with the Brentwood-Westwood Symphony, Inglewood Philharmonic, La Mirada Symphony,
Beach Cities Sympony, Rio Hondo Symphony and Metropolitan Symphony.  Solo appearances included the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, Municipal Art
Gallery Theatre, Pavillion of the Los Angeles Music Center, Sutro Auditorium, Long Beach Municipal Auditorium, Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara
and performances in Oakland, Bakersfield, Palm Springs, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Rosa and numerous other west coast cities.

Ms. Pujadas studied with such eminent teachers as Sergei Tarnowsky (teacher of Vladimir Horowitz), Jakob Gimpel, Lillian Steuber, Adele Marcus
(pupil of Josef Lhevinne and Artur Schnabel), Matt Doran and Mario Castelnuove-Tedesco.  The traditions of these great teachers have been
passed on to Arthur Dobrucki.
